NEW YORK, NY— A Closer Walk With Jesus: Glimpses of Him in Everyday Life (GuidepostsBooks, October 2007) is a collection of accounts from ordinary men, women and children who relate their experience with a real-life encounter with Jesus. Says Evelyn Bence, compiler/editor, “Readers can often see Jesus more clearly when they see his work in others’ lives. That’s what drew me to create this book.”

These are true stories, gleaned from Guideposts magazine archives, and never before collected in book form. Entertaining as well as inspiring, the more than eighty stories provide glimpses of a resurrected Jesus—influencing the lives of people today. Bence has gathered the material into ten different views of Jesus—Jesus as Healer, Guiding Light, Savior, Friend, Abiding Presence, Mentor, Strength, Peace, Life Giver and as discovered in others. She introduces each section with practical pointers that encourage readers to look for Jesus’ presence in their own daily lives. Also, sprinkled throughout are shorter pieces that provide guidance for keeping in step with, and in sight of, Jesus.

The writers collected here know that Jesus is present in their lives but they may not have always understood who or where He is. This collection shares their real glimpses of Jesus, in many different roles, guiding their lives as they walk so near to Him.
