DÉCOR EXPERT SHARON HANBY-ROBIE
AUTHORS THE SPIRIT OF SIMPLE LIVING™ SERIES
THE SIMPLE HOME AND A SIMPLE CHRISTMAS RELEASE FALL 2006
NEW YORK, NY—Life in the 21st century can be complicated.
Juggling cell phones, pagers, email, instant messaging, podcasting and
Tivo is exhausting. Then there are the dozens of social and business events,
stored in your PDA, to be planned, executed or attended. Has simple living
gone the way of the horse and buggy? “No,” says Sharon Hanby-Robie,
interior design expert and best-selling author, “simple living is
not extinct. Simplifying your life is not only possible, but necessary,
for a spiritually fulfilling life.”
Over the past thirty years Hanby-Robie has helped families and individuals
discover simplicity and peace they never dreamed possible. Now her new
series from GuidepostsBooks, entitled The Spirit of Simple
Living™, will help readers discover a simple way of
living, combining beauty and functionality with hope and spirituality.
Hanby-Robie will author each title in the series and the first two are
set to release October 2006: The Simple Home: A Faith-Filled
Guide to Simplicity, Peace, and Joy in Your Home ($14.95,
trade paper, 200 pages, ISBN: 0-8249-4702-9) and A Simple
Christmas: A Faith-Filled Guide to a Meaningful and Stress-Free Christmas
($14.95, trade paper, 208 pages, ISBN: 0-8249-4703-7). Each book also
contains its own 8-page full-color insert featuring photographs and illustrations
to enhance the ideas featured.
“I’m a 24/7 kind of gal,” Hanby-Robie confesses. “But
peace, joy and passion can be sacrificed on the altars of busyness or
creative ventures. I know, I’ve been there! Now I’ve learned
to simplify my life, focusing on beauty, functionality and spirituality.
The result is a life of passion and freedom, and it is available to everyone.”
An interior designer for more than three decades and the resident home
décor expert for QVC, Inc., a shopping network, Sharon Hanby-Robie
brings a unique set of skills to her writing projects. Her latest books,
The Spirit of Simple Living series, blend her
professional expertise with her personal faith. Readers will find hope
as well as practical guidance in each volume.
“If your heart is yearning for a simpler, more godly life that is
filled with the people, activities and things you love, your home can
be the place to start,” Hanby-Robie explains. “I hope the
first title in this series, The Simple Home,
helps you find your own creative style of decorating and inspires you
to optimize the spiritual health and peacefulness of your homes.”
The Simple Home is divided into five sections
which help readers to 1) clarify the mission of their home, 2) create
and work a plan, 3) adapt to real life, 4) maintain a simple home and
5) create a spiritual sanctuary.
As for the second title in the series, The Simple Christmas,
Hanby-Robie has one main goal for readers: “I hope you learn that
you can have the best Christmas ever even if it’s not the perfect
Christmas or the most elaborate one. We want it all—every year.
But having it all makes us feel exhausted, not exhilarated.” This
practical and spiritual guide helps readers prepare their attitudes as
well as their activities for the holiday season. Hanby-Robie offers tips
for choosing and changing family traditions, decorating for Christmas
and creative gift-giving.
“What makes this series unique,” explains Marilyn Moore, Editor-in-Chief
at GuidepostsBooks, “is the spiritual perspective Sharon provides.
The Spirit of Simple Living series seamlessly
weaves the practical into the spiritual. And Sharon’s upbeat, can-do
attitude is contagious, encouraging readers to pursue the life of simplicity
and joy they long for.”
Sharon Hanby-Robie will support the launch of The Spirit of
Simple Living series with personal appearances at the International
Christian Retail Show this summer and with consumer media interviews in
the fall. National online, advertising and publicity campaigns are also
in place to promote the release of the first two titles, The
Simple Home and A Simple Christmas,
in 2006. The Simple Wedding is scheduled for
release in 2007.
Sharon Hanby-Robie
is the resident home décor expert for QVC, Inc., a shopping network,

people discover their own personal style, and to give them the confidence
to move forward with making choices that make sense for their families
and lifestyle.” She has been an interior designer and member of
